age • 45
birthday • March 25, 1979

identifying features • Silas stands at the height of 6'-5". He towers over most around him but doesn't give off intimidation unless needed. A tousle of brown hair that varies in length, matches the starting of a growing beard. Silas enjoys wearing a variety of clothing but is often seen in scrubs or slacks and button-ups. The man likes to take care of himself mentally and physically, and his body shows the hard work. Silas does have a few scars on his body from riding accidents or the dangers of handling the animals he cares for.
likes • exotic animals (especially rhinos), yoga and pilates, classical music (but prefers hip hop or metal when in surgery), riding his horses, long walks, bike rides (staying active, overall), darkest of all dark chocolate, nightcaps. traveling
dislikes • mixed drinks like Long Islands (doesn't mind a mojito or a margarita), white chocolate, exotic pet trade, egotistical students/people, people who don't put in the work
strengths • exotic animal care, patient, active, jumping (was his specialty in the competitive world)
weaknesses • commitment to relationships (never had anything longer than two years due to travel and work), his nephew, maps (has a collection of vintage and new maps)
dreams • find the rest of his biological family, settle in one place for once, get more people interested in exotic veterinary care
fears • getting mauled, not being able to recover as fast as he used to
overall personality • Silas can bounce between goofy and professional quite quickly. It mainly stems from the discipline of riding at such a young age. He loves good jokes and being around people and likes to make things fun. Not necessarily the life of a party, but can add some energy to it if needed. With his students that come in for clinicals, Silas is an attentive educator. He wants to make sure they leave with a good experience, and even if they never do exotics full time – that they felt like they learned something. He's finally hit the point of his life that he would like to settle. With finding his siblings and mother, Silas feels like Hickstead could be his full-time home. Silas hasn’t thought of dating yet, but he hopes he can find someone at some point to fill that void of having a loving partner.

overall history • Silas was born as the oldest sibling to Peter and Deborah Green. He grew up in Hickstead and was able to see his parents welcome home a set of twins before things went downhill. Peter and Deborah ended up having a nasty divorce due to Deborah forming an emotional attachment to a coworker. The wedding was annulled and the parents split, Deborah taking the girls and Peter taking Silas.
The divorce and move to a whole new country took a toll on Silas and his relationship with his father. He was old enough to know what was going on, but still young enough not to know why he felt the way he did. Peter, feeling guilty – enrolled Silas in riding lessons. It was something that he did when he was younger and he felt Silas could also benefit from the lessons. Well, Silas took to horses like a fly to honey. He showed great technical skill and a determination to learn and push himself.
Despite the new distraction of competitive riding, Silas still felt that puzzle piece missing. Questions on mom and his sisters were quickly shut down, prompting Silas to resent his father – causing cracks in their relationship. Finally realizing his father would never help him, Silas moved himself to Queensland to follow his riding coach. It was in Queensland that Silas formed an interest in exotic animals after visiting the Zoo. Maybe it was because they too were misunderstood, and he felt connected to that.
During a routine horse checkup, Silas heard about exotic animal veterinarians. It piqued his interest, but at the time – he was so focused on riding he didn’t think he could manage anything else. With some egging by his coaches and teammates, Silas did take a few classes here and there and he was hooked. After finishing up his stint of professional riding, Silas dove headfirst into studying.
He attended University of Sydney and began working at the Schönbrunn Zoo. Silas kept moving around a bit, finishing contracts without renewal. It was his way of traveling and possibly searching for that missing puzzle piece. That puzzle piece came when Silas was working in San Diego. It was an email from a woman named Bridgette Evans. Her email was long, a bit scattered – but the gist was that her mother had drunkenly admitted to an older sibling. And after an extensive Google search, Silas popped up.
Safe to say, Silas continued contact – and the two met in person in Michigan. Silas felt a wave of relief, happy to reconnect. It was through Bridgette that he learned of their sister, Lauryn. Who was in fact residing in Hickstead, their birth town.
Due to work and travel, Silas couldn’t fly and meet Lauryn. Through Bridgette they had phone calls and email correspondence. But the time came when an opening for an exotic vet opened up at Hickstead Zoo. Silas applied on a whim, thinking none of it – until he was offered the position. With nothing to lose, and the idea of being close to his family again – Silas accepted.
In the summer of 2024 – he moved to England, with Bridgette’s son in tow – as he was going to be a Hickstead Student. Since then, Silas has begun working closely with the Zoo and even working with local students for their clinicals. He has met with Lauryn one and one – but has yet to meet her children and the rest of her immediate family.
